Purchasing a car is just the first step on a long journey of living with and maintaining your car. When you buy it either off the production line or second hand, your car is still very bare and has none of the personal touches that identify it as yours. The choice is then yours about what personalisation you make to it in order to identify it. Some people like to recognise their car by the scratch in the bumper or the blanket left on the seat. But for car lovers it is a wonderful opportunity to create a machine that is completely unique.

Some small modifications make all the difference

There are many accessories, modifications and changes that you can make to your car that can improve it both aesthetically and in performance. Just having a small knowledge about the inner workings of your car can be of great help when it comes to repairs or maintenance as a little bit of knowledge can go a long way when it comes to extending the life of your car. In the likelihood that you don’t intend to hold onto your car until it is scrap, some modifications can greatly increase the sell value of your car as you are able to offer potential buyers something that they won’t be able to find off the production line or in most dealers. This is certainly true when it comes to purchasing replacement parts, selling a car with broken or missing parts greatly devalues it and taking it in for repairs just before you sell it can be very costly. What starts as a hobby could quickly become a lucrative money-maker as you learn the essential skill of mechanics.

Living in the modern age has made this easier than ever before because you are not at the mercy of hardware stores or car dealerships when it comes to sourcing car parts. There is a great wealth of car parts available online, these parts are of great quality and on offer for competitive prices either because they are surplus or bought wholesale. Companies like ultimate styling and many of the online auto-part traders share in their customer’s passion for modification, replacement and repairs and so they are dedicated to providing a great selection of available parts in order to enable this.

The potential for an owner to customise is one of the very real joys of physical engineering. The knowledge and the parts are available to everyone and a vehicle can be modified with just a little bit of the correct knowledge. This also opens the owner up to a whole new community of modifiers and car lovers as they discuss and trade information and parts with each other whilst comparing cars, workmanship and parts at different shows and events. Taking the time to modify your first car can be a great opportuinty to turn an interest or a hobby into a real life-long passion.

A loophole in DVLA laws could leave vehicle owners vulnerable to fraud it has been warned. This loophole means that it is possible for cars to be scrapped by fraudsters without proof of ownership, allowing them to claim money and leave the real owner out of pocket.

According to reports, anyone can claim that the vehicle belongs to them and don’t need paperwork like a V5 registration document. This worrying news has been a major concern of late, particularly as scrap metal theft is on the rise throughout the country, accounting for a considerable rise in the overall rates of domestic burglary.

45- year old George Harrison is one of the latest victims of this growing spate of crime. In an interview he said:

“The car was only worth about £1,000, but it was mine. It wasn’t insured either, so I can’t make a claim. I’d had the chance of another vehicle and transferred my policy to that…the law in relation to scrapping must be tightened up. It’s outrageous”

Although there have been a considerable number of measures implemented across the country in relation to scrap metal theft, it is painfully apparent that unscrupulous dealers are still cashing in on this lucrative business. Although many companies work legitimately when dealing with scrap cars, there are still those who will unwittingly still deal with criminals, without putting adequate safeguards in place. John Osbourne, who runs a car scrapping service had this to say:

“We will always ask for proof of ownership before we take a car for scrapping as well as other forms of ID like a passport or driver’s license. Some of what’s happening within the business at the moment is absolutely ridiculous and just goes to show how diligent we need to be. There are so many villains just out to make a quick buck, we in the industry really need to be on our guard at the moment.”

When you purchase a car, you will have an idea in mind about what it is that you need it for, but the chances are that this could change. There will almost certainly come a time when your car will be needed for something that you never expected, which is why it is important to have a car that is very flexible and adaptable to almost any situation. A Range Rover is one of the most customisable models of car available and the wealth of Range Rover spares online allows you to change and modify your car as your needs themselves are subject to change.

Roof rack, spare tyres, protective bars, additional lighting and a whole host of other extras are available from trusted range rover stockists and this allows you to completely repurpose your reliable Range Rover as your requirements change. A Range Rover is already an extremely all-purpose vehicle, with commodious space, all terrain wheels and steering, and powerful enough to reach top speeds. With the additional extras that are available there will be nothing that you or your Range Rover cannot accomplish.

This also gives you the chance to personalise the vehicle heavily and in a very practical way as you fit it out with all of the essential tools and parts that you could possibly need. This will make your car very different from the Range Rover of anyone else because it has been adapted into exactly the vehicle you need it to be.

However, spare parts are not just about adding to your car, you also need to be prepared for the unexpected should any part of your car break down in the wilderness or just by the side of the road. With spare parts such as tires and some basic tools you could repair your car on the move all by yourself without relying on rescue/breakdown services that would charge extortionately for a relatively simple process.

A Range Rover is a large machine of cooperative parts working together to make a vehicle that is incredibly resilient and tough. But all of those individual parts are necessary for the whole car to function, so stocking some of those small essentials and keeping them handy could rescue you from a difficult situation on more than one occasion. The substantial market for cheap range rover parts and the joy of the customisation itself give you more than enough reason to modify your vehicle of supreme practicality.

Baby car seats are designed to keep your new-born safe while they are travelling in a car with you and, by law, you must use one that is of the correct size. If you take the chance and attempt to drive without using a baby car seat you will not only be breaking the law but also endangering your child’s life, as they won’t be protected in the event of a car crash.

Buying your first baby car seat can seem like a very confusing endeavour, but it really isn’t as difficult as it appears. There are three categories of baby car seats for you to choose from and you must ensure you pick the one that best suits your child’s age and weight. Group 0 is suitable for babies from birth up to around nine months old, or up to 10kg in weight. Group 0+ suits babies from birth up to 12-15 months, or up to 13kg in weight. Group 0+ and 1, , is suitable for babies from birth up to about four years of age, or up to 18kg.

You should look at a few different baby car seats before deciding on one and ensure the seat you finally choose will properly fit into your car. The child car seats will need to be completely secure and needs to fit into all cars that your child will be travelling in – if their grandparents regularly look after them for you, buy a car seat that will be suitable for their car as well or you may have to look at buying two.

It’s important that you remember that babies must be placed in a rear facing car seat until they are at least 9kg in weight. This is vital as these rear-facing car seats are able to provide them with additional support and can protect your child’s head, neck and spine should you be involved in a car crash. You will need to check whether your car is fitted with a front air bag – if this is the case you must not fit your rear facing baby car seat in the front of the car as your child could be injured if it was activated. If you don’t have a front airbag you can use this kind of car seat in either the front or back of the car.

The safety features of your chosen baby car seat are the most important factors you should look for, but once you have found one that complies with this you can begin considering the colour, how comfortable your child will be in it and how easy you find it to use.

Owning a campervan is a dream for thousands of people – what could be better than having the freedom to take off whenever you like to wherever you like? There are so many different types of camper available on the market today though it is difficult to know which one to choose.

VW Camper

If you can get hold of one of these iconic vehicles then they are perfect for those of you who travel alone or with just one partner. Older models can be expensive to run but they come with everything you need to start your adventure. A Transporter or Eurovan may be easier to get hold of and tend to be less expensive to run than their predecessors.

Panel Van

Panel vans tend to offer more space than VWs but will need converting to support living accommodation and may require a lot of work. They tend to be fairly economical though if you choose the right type and there is a massive variety and if you opt for the larger option, they can accommodate up to three people on short trips or two on longer ones comfortably. They are also easy to drive around modern cities and can be parked in regular parking spaces, giving you the freedom to use it whenever and wherever you choose.

Motorhome

A motorhome is the absolute luxury, providing you with everything you could ever need on your trip. Ranging in size, some can accommodate for an entire family, and because they are fitted with toilets, showers and cooking facilities you will be totally self-sufficient.

Caravan

Generally smaller than motorhomes, a caravan also comes equipped with all the facilities you will need to go about your day to day business but will require A frame towing or something similar. They tend to be cheaper than motorhomes but will require a car that is capable of towing and they can be difficult to manoeuvre. They do mean however, that when on holiday you can leave your van at a campsite and be free to travel around by car, making day trips a lot easier and more efficient.

Restoring a car can be a massively rewarding project for anyone with an interest in mechanics to undertake. So long as you have the patience and foresight as well as the ability to recognise that you’re not going to be able to do everything yourself, you can end up with something that you can be proud to drive around in. Here’s some helpful tips for you before you start your project:

Think about what it is you want to achieve and how much you can spend. These are two really important questions because you don’t a) want to end up with something you don’t actually enjoy or b) run out of money before completing the project. Have a word with some professionals and use online forums for advice – there are tonnes out there and other people’s experience is invaluable

Your new dream car?

Find your car. Check out auction houses and online sites like ebay. Have a look in auto magazines and ask around friends or local clubs and societies. Ask around about laour costs and make sure that you have the best price available to you before you start and more importantly, if anyone else is going to be working on your car, make sure they have a good reputation. Beware of cowboys!

Strip and catalogue all your car parts. You’ll need loads of room for this so if you don’t have a big garage, now’s the time to find one. Label and sort everything to make reassembly easier and decide what can be continued to use and what needs to be replaced. Source car parts online for the best prices.

Once your car has been stripped right down, then you can start sanding, sandblasting or dipping. Make sure that you get rid of all excess flakes remaining from the previous paint job so that the surface is smooth for re-painting.

Check the mechanics to ensure that everything is in the correct running order. If you’re planning on using your car on the road then it’s essential to make sure that your car will pass it’s MOT. Get a proper mechanic to check this over if you’re not trained yourself.

Next you can start working on your body work. Make sure that everything is straight and smooth before applying your paint to ensure a good finish

Reassemble. Take care during the reassembly process, making sure not to damage or scar any of your restored pieces. This will take a lot longer than taking it apart but by taking your time, you can be sure that it will work out better for you in the long run

Once you’ve re-assembled it’s time to start working on the interior. There are loads of companies who offer interior kits or, if you want something really special and have the money to indulge yourself, think about getting a custom job done

Restoring a car is a lot of hard work and can be pretty draining on both you and your wallet but once you look out at your dream car sitting on your drive way, you know it’s been worth it.

One of the most important aspects of a reliable car is the ability to replace and reuse different parts to modify, improve and repair the vehicle if it is liable to be treated roughly. This ethos has never been more true than with Land Rover cars, a name that is synonymous with adventure and exploration; these vehicles are infinitely customizable and adaptable because every exploration adventure is unique. Finding reliable and useful Land Rover parts is a lot of the fun of owning the car itself, you are allowed, if not encouraged, to adapt it to suit your needs.

The modifications available for land rover are the very essence of excitement and adventure; survival equipment, ropes and shackles, auxiliary lighting, tow bars. The list is extensive and incredibly customisable making it not only incredibly useful but also very personalised as it grants the ability for different owners and users to compare the different ways in which they have modelled their vehicles for their needs.

Spare parts for other makes of car are usually about replacing something that has broken or is faulty, but with landrover, as with all exploration and wilderness survival, the equipment is all about being adequately prepared for any eventuality. Imagine the excitement of building your very own survival machine and kitting it out with all of the essentials. Owners may find themselves driving around praying for torrents of rain and mudslide. Once you have completed the process of modifying and preparing your own personalised Land Rover, the only thing left for you to do is find the dream adventure to tackle.

Not surprisingly, Warrantywise is the only warranty company in the UK that offers cover for every type of vehicle, all makes and models, including imports. As a used car dealer, you will be happy to know that Warrantywise can offer warranties on vehicles that are 13 years old or newer and have an odometer reading of 130,000 miles or less. As a car dealer, you will want to offer your customers the very best cover to guard against breakdowns but this cover can also protect your reputation as a reliable and ethical dealership.

Whether you are trying to offer your customers a Mazda Warranty or cover for a BMW, our warranties are the best to be found in the UK and again, the only company to provide cover to virtually any make of vehicle on the road. In addition to that, Warrantywise offers higher levels of cover in many cases above and beyond some manufacturer’s extended warranties! One interesting factor is that none of their warranties has a betterment clause, which is unique in and of itself.

Used car dealers seem to get a bad reputation simply because of the business they are in, so whether you are offering a Lexus Warranty or a Hyundai Warranty, it is always in your best interest to give your customers the best service as well as the best options in warranties. With Warrantywise your customers will have the best of service and the best of cover which will reflect nicely on you. You can offer them cover for three months or for thirty-six months and then they are free to choose from four levels, Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze.

Also, Warrantywise is not under the FSA’s jurisdiction since it is a service and maintenance plan so there are no government inspections or exams to contend with, even though the company is compliant with government regulations. No matter what type of vehicle needs a warranty, the best possible service and maintenance plan will be offered. Therefore, a Honda Warranty is just as important as a Lamborghini Warranty because the customer is the lifeblood of your business as well as that of Warrantywise. Keep the customer happy and well-serviced and everyone gets a good deal.

Whether they’re driving 500 miles to their university or five miles down the road to high school, students’ knowledge of proper vehicle maintenance will improve both their car’s safety and their personal safety as they head back to school.

High school and college students nationwide understand that being able to drive is tantamount to personal freedom, making it important for them to develop good car care habits early – habits that will pay off for years to come.

That is why Firestone Tire & Service Centers developed a top five list to help students prepare to hit the road before they have to hit the books. Remembering to maintain a vehicle will help reduce repairs and help students save money.

“We hope this top five list bestows high school and college kids with a sense of responsibility for their safety, related to car maintenance,” said Trisha Hessinger, automotive TV program host, car education specialist and pace car driver.

The chance that a 16- to 19-year-old will be in a crash, based on miles driven, is four times that of an older driver, according

to AAA.

A car can break down at the worst possible moment and in the worst situation. The dangers associated with a poorly maintained car are significantly increased by the driver’s inexperience.

Vehicle maintenance is critical in maintaining optimum performance of any vehicle, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration.

So, if you are a parent of a young driver or a young driver yourself, remember that taking care of a car consists of more than keeping it clean.

The Audi Q7 was first unveiled for an exclusive group of journalists. However, it was a closed-door affair that turned out to be quite a successful one with several people from Audi of America joining in to answer any questions regarding the new Audi Q7. The new Audi Q7 is built on the very same platform that is also used by the Volkswagen Touareg and the Porsche Cayenne. It also holds a wheelbase that is quite longer than the Volkswagen Touareg by almost six inches. This kind of wheelbase then provides the Audi Q7 an overall look that exudes a sleek and stretched look.

The Audi Q7 is a sport utility vehicle. This vehicle has proportions that when combined work out very nicely providing a strong look. The vehicle contains and features headlights, tail lights, rear view mirrors and door handles that exude the traditional look that is considered to be simply an Audi. The Audi Q7 SUV has a grill that goes well with the vehicles painted horizontal strip and as well as the adopted standard dark gray that is quite standard for Audis vehicle lineup. Compared to the other models in the Audi family, the chrome strip around the grille for the Audi Q7 is considered to be quite narrow thus assisting greatly in making the grille of the Audi Q7 look a less overpowering.

It could be noticed that the Audi Q7 has the very same classic proportions that Audi Avants have. This includes a high shoulder line, a narrow window area, a sloping roofline that moves towards the rear of the Audi Q7, and an angled rear window. These all combine to provide a classy look for this sport utility vehicle. Basically, the taillights of the Audi Q7 are very much like the Audi Avant with its tips forming top corners of the license plate opening. Other than that, the Audi Q7 also has a rear bumper that has two long and thin reflectors mounted on it. This rear bumper holds the added assumed function of being turn signals or rear fog lights.

Setting the Audi Q7 apart from the Volkswagen Touareg and the Porsche Cayenne is this vehicles optional third row seating. The center row for this sport utility vehicle has the ability to fold back down and slide forward, thus giving ample and easy access to the rear seating. It also contains a middle row that has the capacity to slide forward and provide more legroom for the rear seats. As for the third row, this entire row of seats could fold flat on the floor when it is not utilized. This gives more cargo area in the rear. The Audi Q7 also has an electronic control for this third row.

For impressive collections of Audi parts, customers can visit Auto Parts Online. This online store holds the latest in innovative and stylish Audi parts. Auto Parts Online is where customers can order genuine Audi parts and accessories at wholesale prices. Auto Parts Online supplies superior and highly durable Audi parts currently available.
